  8. U.S.A. pageant last week, you were dead right. The winner was. .
  9. . Miss Texas -- for the fifth year in a row. Gretchen Polhemus
  10. of Fort Worth succeeded Courtney Gibbs, also of Fort Worth, who
  11. succeeded Michelle Royer of Keller, who succeeded Christy
  12. Fichtner of Dallas, who succeeded Laura Martinez-Herring of El
  13. Paso. And who knows where it all will end, so long as GuyRex
  14. Associates of El Paso is around. The firm, which specializes in
  15. grooming beauty-pageant contestants, worked its magic on all
  16. five Texas winners and in fact runs the Miss Texas-U.S.A.
  17. franchise. "There are no more queens," explains GuyRex partner
  18. Richard Guy. "Momma doesn't make apple pie anymore. It's all
  19. frozen, all corporate-owned."
